No ADB Yet, But You Can See it From Here

From the article: "McDonald’s added All-Day Breakfast in 2015, generating strong sales and helping to bolster the chain after a years-long sales lull."

Here's how this is going to happen. As Jonathan Maze points out, when ADB was launched
McDonald's USA sales had been soft for several years. It was time for a natural business cycle rebound that made ADB look more impactful than it actually  was.

Easterbrook took credit for the "success" of ADB and gave it so much fanfare that it's a major
part of this career history. The media and Wall Street analysts still believe the hype and will
expect ADB to make a comeback once more dining rooms are reopened.

McDonald's management can't admit that ADB was over hyped in 2015 so they will continue
to claim that customers are clamoring for ADB.

After all, what are they going to tell analysts - "We want to bring it back but our franchisees won't let us"?

McDonald’s is reconsidering the future of All-Day Breakfast - Restaurant Business

Not only is it GUARANTEED that MCD will bring back ADB, but they are also going to mandate crew pour at the beverage bars, further raising costs and eroding profits (and Equity). The only ones who seem to be willing to fight this is the NOA. I wish them luck!

I'm thinking self serve beverage bars in restaurants are going to be dinosaurs pretty soon. If customers are afraid to touch your door handles are they going to be eager to touch the levers and buttons on your beverage bar?

The bottom line is this. Mark has drunk the Mcd koolaid. No telling what they promised him. NOA pres Blake seems to be holding the line but no telling whatMcd will try to bribe them with. The future is not bright.

An independent franchisee association needs a group of leaders. All should not depend on one person. That's why I get frustrated with the silly idea of having a McDonald's Owner/Operator on the corporate board of directors. Poor strategy to put all that pressure on one person.

Join NOA and get involved. Don't just sit back and expect NOA to solve all our problems.

Isnt joining an organization... involvement? Isnt it organization?

Isnt it the leaders, voted upon, to rally the troops, define the battle strategy.. and then lead the charge?

Are operators so lost in the ability to be in the front, all they know is how to follow? If so, they're doomed at the onset.

Again, 70% of restaurant operators are NOA members. If a simple strategy of $1 drink cant be changed with a field vote.. could they not kill it by simply implementing their own strategy?

And if they are that unwilling, unable to draw a line with a simple DRINK strategy. How will they ever be in a position to draw a line for more important issues?

Update to the above comment . NOA currently has 1287 members out of 1600 owners. That's 80%

Seems they should be able to make a little bigger splash then..

On a different note..

BLM in Their Own Words: NY Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome warned that if America “doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it.”

This is what corporate gave money too. Aiding and Abetting terrorist.

If 80% of the operators in NOA refuse to do ADB and $1 drinks, then NOA dictates the agenda. It's pretty simple.

The time for polite conversation that leads to losses for restaurants and bonuses for corporate are over. NOA was being fed crumbs. Time for NOA to take charge. Corporate will threaten but will ultimately follow. It doesn't have a choice.

NOA should even consider doing its own analyst day(with counsel present so no one says anything that could lead to legal trouble).

Want to change the game? Rathaus how to do it. Other franchisee associations got wok n up and grabbed the reins and forced change in the management team that was hurting them.

An analyst day would be a great event but there's no need to get lawyers involved, that just makes everyone nervous. The analysts and their researchers don't want sensitive or proprietary information. They just want to talk about hamburgers and fries and get some feedback on how franchisees feel about the current corporate management team.

I've been having free-wheeling conversations with analysts for years without one minute of advice from counsel and I'm still here doing it today.

It's a free country folks and just because you signed a franchise agreement doesn't mean you gave up all of your Constitutional rights.

As for BLM, I haven't seen it reported anywhere that McDonald's Corp. gave $$$ to BLM. Of course, when you start throwing money around you don't know where it ends up.

ummmmm... check according to NAACP and the Urban Social League, they are PARTNERS with Black Lives Matter. As for MCD Corporate support, look to their social media and webpage.

Would you ever think MCD would post the the slogan KEEP AMERICA GREAT on their worldwide social media and Corporate web pages?

This just showed up on the Field Brief this morning. So denying that McD. Corp. is sponsoring this Domestic Terrorist organization is simply denying the truth.

Black Lives Matter Pins and Bracelets Available for Purchase Starting Jul. 1

We’ve heard from some McDonald’s employees who want to show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement to end social injustice. We are pleased to announce we are making pins and bracelets available for owner/operators to purchase through Way To Be starting Jul. 1. These items are optional at operator restaurants. We will be offering these items to any McOpCo employee who is interested in wearing them.

Owner/operators will be able to order them over the next several weeks. Should you have a more urgent need for pins or bracelets, please contact your Field People Officer. Of course, apparel policies on accessories like pins are workplace-specific rules that are up to the discretion of independent owner/operators. We strongly encourage you to consult with a legal professional, such as through your EPLI hotline, when designing your apparel policies to ensure they are compliant with all laws.

McD. is NOT a Company I want to be affiliated with and I have been a McD. employee and Operator for almost 50 years. I want a company that is “A” Political. I would NEVER ask McD. to advocate for my belief system of God, Jesus, Bible, Pro Life and Traditional Conservative Values. I have NO problem being inclusive of ALL Races, Sexes Sexual Preference and Others beliefs, I have a Problem with my Franchisor putting me in a place to defend a Position that has nothing to do with our business. Do your research this is a Domestic Terrorist Group.

Agree, McD should steer clear of advocating a position on any controversial issues! Look at the hot water Chick Fil A's leadership has gotten that organization into from time to time. Totally unnecessary.

Re: Hawk Newsome:

In a statement to The Associated Press, BLM Global Network managing director Kailee Scales said Newsome’s comments were not an official statement of the network. “Hawk Newsome has no relation to the Black Lives Matter Global Network,” Scales said.

Newsome is a former president of Black Lives Matter Greater New York, which is not an affiliate chapter of the global network. Although there are many groups that use “Black Lives Matter” or “BLM” in their names, only 16 are considered affiliates of the BLM Global Network.

Scales said only chapters that have agreed to adhere to the network’s principles and code of ethics are permitted to be part of the network.
