Who Would Have Thought...

Spending advertising $$$ to pitch free food

EXCESSIVE FREE FOOD giveaways are the refuge of lazy, inexperienced and inept marketing staffs. They do not have the intelligence, operations experience, or common sense to do anything else. Its the "easy way out" and is endemic of todays McD all the way up to and including Chris K and Joe.

WHY does OPNAD allow this in such excess? Our OPNAD reps have been severely compromised...they do NOT represent us. They are lemmings, going along with Corporate edicts for their OWN self interests.

Want more proof OPNAD is corrupt and a Corporate lackey? Why do we not get an itemization of how EACH OPNAD rep votes? How can you gauge your reps performance if we dont know how they vote? Its easy for your inept OPNAD rep to hide behind aggregate vote tallies. The past is littered with examples of votes that "passed" in spite of overwhelming field sentiment opposition. HE (corp) who counts the votes makes the rules! OPNAD is a JOKE.

OPNAD Chair- Are you listening? Whose side are you on?

PS- Same goes for the toothless NFLA reps/lemmings.

As a owner rep, you should be representing owner interests. Yet their statements, actions, and votes consistently show disregard for Owner interests, equity, profitability, and hard earned cash flow dollars. You also downplay and ignore MCDs owner rights violations and its antagonism against Owners.

WHAT GOOD ARE YOU?

Does the NOA have any way to influence OPNAD?

From some perspective - OPNAD was formed when the Vietnam War was still raging. It doesn't sound like there's been any change in its format or operation since Lyndon Johnson was President.

My guess - Most of the people reading this had not yet been born when OPNAD was formed.

Right now, the NOA is concentrating on revising the draconian new McD franchising policies, especially regarding Sales Between Operators (SBOs) and Qualified to BUY, PACE, and the current antibusiness governmental legislation like AB 257.

Join and SUPPORT your NOA.

(Or suffer the consequences and watch your equity disappear!)

.55 cents a day is a small price to pay to have a Advocate.

Why should anyone join NOA ?They have produced the same results that the NFLA has-nothing.

N o a

Two of the above comments were probably left by corporate trolls attempting to destroy owner unity and our strength in numbers.

I THINK you should start some comments about the upcoming MGR convention in VEGAS
mid OCTOBER

cost $1,500 to $1,800 is the projected price
not counting room - flights - whatever extras you give your TEAM

if someone has a cost breakdown I sure would like to see it

thoughts
1. YES - my TEAM deserves this & they all are going

2 1,500 to 1,800

3. all MCOPO are paid by MCD - which is us

4. did I mention 1,500 to 1,800

5. as we get closer to signing up - will there be a buy one get one free? - can we use our app & get a discount?

6. how about if we are unhappy with the convention can we call the 1-800 number & politely complain &
MCD will send us a refund?

7. I could go on but like VEGAS - 7 is my lucky number

A. cannot go past 7 😁
I would need to look up costs like you would - but am betting 😁 there I go again -
& get I MGR there is a nice casino (PARIS - COSMOPOLITAN- ARIA - NEW YORK)
for 3-4 days for less than $1,000 - times my 8 MGRS - 8K. money left over we
can go to a show or two - drinking YES - but instead of getting all those high priced
sodas & higher priced alcohol - I would go across the street to WALGREENS &
get a cart load for 10% of what NCD is paying

B. now that I am thinking about it - MAYBE I will send my TEAM out there - just not go to
the convention - we will probably bump into each other on the strip - better yet IN & OUT

It never ceases to amaze me how some owners blindly support corp (for their own personal gain) and its abusive, toxic behavior , rather than standing by their peers to promote unity and get things done. Make a difference. Complain about NOA all you want, if you dont support your fellow owners, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

NOA 5 AREAS OF FOCUS- WHATS NOT TO LIKE AND SUPPORT??????

ADVOCACY
The NOA will be regarded as the Umbrella Advocacy Body. We represent and advocate for every Owner/Franchisee. We will provide a mechanism for Owners/Franchisees to confidentially register their concerns, grievances and inappropriate conduct aired against them by McDonald’s.

LEGISLATIVE ENGAGEMENT
The NOA will have a Political Agenda. We will work with strategists, lobbyists and legislators to develop grass roots tactics to support our Owners/Franchisees. Our first agenda item is going to be to support our Owners/Franchisees in California who are in the fight of their lives to defeat AB 257.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
The NOA will become the Leadership Development mechanism of the Owner/Franchisee body. Peers and advisors providing seminars on business acumen, how to successfully operate a McDonald’s restaurant and how to navigate the political landscape in McDonald’s.

NEXTGEN GUIDANCE
The NOA will provide education and guidance for Next Generation applicants and Owners/Franchisees. Peers and advisors assisting in navigating the Next Generation and Spousal programs, elevating their McDonald’s financial IQ and learning the important wealth transfer concepts in the ever-changing tax and legislative environment.

REGISTERED APPLICANT SUPPORT
The NOA will act as the Orientation and Welcome committee for Registered Applicants. Assisting them with essential resources, advisors and insights so that they can be successful, engaged and positive contributors to the Owner/Franchisee community and The System.

OWNER UNITY and STRENGTH in NUMBERS is the only way to deal with the McD overreach

Whats not to support?

NOA will focus the NOA Advocacy Platform on the tried and tested “Strength in Numbers” by continuing to grow and expand our membership, educational and training efforts, along with important, effective advocacy tactics as needed to improve the system, and protecting (and growing) Owner equity, cash flow, and Profitability.

Numerous examples exist since the change in MCD management culture of Owner Advocacy, Unity and Strength that has “carried the day” in terms of solid results for Owners, from the changes made initially reworking BBV 2020, the success of PPP coordination, lobbying and funding, the 62% reduction in the original, mysterious $70M bogus Tech Fee, conducting two highly successful Next Gen Advocacy & Leadership summits, and launching the PYP (Protect Your People) programs protecting our businesses from unionization efforts prevalent in the industry today. Additionally, multiple NOA member surveys have overwhelmingly demonstrated that the system is in need of repair.

Following other successful Owner/Franchisee models of Advocacy within and external of the McDonald’s System, NOA reserves the right as the System’s largest, self-funding Owner/Operator Association, to pursue alternative dispute resolution means (ADR), join those in the industry opposing less than ideal regulatory or legislative remedies and ultimately, as a last resort, the ability to consider litigation options.

There are approximately 1300 Owner Operators in the US.
Approximately 1000 of them are NOA members (76.9%).
WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON?

The problem with mcd today is based on the fact that it is a publicly held company. It is concerned ONLY with its stockholders and the stock return. Franchisees, employees, suppliers, even customers in the store mean nothing to them. Its all about the stock. Add in Chris Ks admission that corp is really a real estate holding company, not a restaurant company anymore. Ray and Fred are crying in the grave. Additionally, the vast majority of top mcd execs have little to no restaurant operations experience. Executive ranks are filled with accountants and marketing folks who know less about your stores than your average 16 year old crewperson. These are the people who destroyed the partnership and ruined the most successful franchise concept in history. The operators who left the system the past two years saw this writing on the wall snd got out. Now Im planning on doing the same. Fourteen stores for sale.

The person griping about NOA and NFLA above is probably not even a NOA member or NFLA supporter. THEY are exacerbating the problem by not standing with their fellow owners who are at least trying to improve things in the face of total MCD refusals to even discuss issues of importance to licensees.

There is power in our numbers and strength in our unity. Do not allow corporate to ignore us any longer!

Fourteen stores for sale? Prepare to be ROFR'ed . BUYER and SELLER beware!

Anonymous said...

As Chris K recently stated blatantly, they are now merely a holding company now for multiple (locally run) real estate locations . Our stores be damned.

The worst consequences for the Owners is the continued process of Right of First Refusal (ROFR) as they make business oversight and red tape so ruthless and onerous that all the good owners are leaving like NOAs Blake Casper. And the exodus continues.

The system relationship is badly broken. Corporate has admitted that they are only in this for the short term, quick profits for the shareholders, and that we are no longer a restaurant operations company. The partnership no longer exists and Fred Turner is rolling over in his grave.

The most underrated point is that the mid and lower level corporate employees are now frustrated and very disappointed as well. They all could get the same, I f not higher paying jobs, for half the stress. Upper management is the main reason for management turnover.

To the above- I have already lost two good long term store managers and two assistants to the competition due to PACE stress and frustration.
