Your restaurant may receive calls from customers asking questions about an
article in the American Family Association Action Alert Newsletter. This
newsletter contains inaccurate information about McDonald's and our
position related to gay and lesbian employees and customers.

Here are the facts:
- All references to comments from Jim Skinner in the Action Alert
Newsletter are complete fabrications
- While one McDonald's employee is affiliated with the National Gay &
Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), McDonald's is in no way
"aggressively promoting the homosexual agenda" as suggested in the
newsletter.
- The NGLCC is a non-profit organization dedicated to support economic
opportunities for the gay and lesbian business community.
- In addition to McDonald's, there are numerous other Fortune 500
companies that serve as corporate partners with NGLCC.
- McDonald's commitment to diversity and inclusion is a business driver
and part of our culture.
- At McDonald's, we treat all our employees and customers with dignity
and respect regardless of their ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual
orientation or any other differentiating factor.

If you receive any customer inquiries related to this situation please
respond with following:

"Thank you for your expressing your concern. The newsletter you are
referring to contains inaccurate information about McDonald's. Please
contact our Customer Satisfaction hotline at 1-800-244-6227 for more
information."

The detailed customer statement below will provide you with some
additional information. Please note – as always, all customer inquiries
should be sent to the Customer Satisfaction hotline at 1-800-244-6227
and all media calls should be referred to McDonald's media relations
hotline at (630) 623-6900 or to the Mapline after hours.

Please share this information with your Restaurant Managers and Crew as
appropriate.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Pat Harris
McDonald's Global Chief Diversity Officer

If anyone remembers Ray Kroc, you would know how he would have felt. Probably few remember Ray in Chicago, however! Certainly not his principles or his ideals!

I have received numerous calls from customers and I don't blame them for being upset...it's just as bad as McDonald's taking a stand on abortion...and how does this help us sell hamburgers?

As a FAMILY restaurant, I cant see how this helps, even when you figure in "diversity". There are approx 9 Million gay/lesbians (estimated) in this country. 20 million families (thats 70 million people) belong to the AFA. The math is all wrong. Plus the AFA has effectively hurt Miller Brewing and Ford Motors with their boycotts. We are in for a heap of trouble if they boycott us. Why couldnt they just "dont ask, dont tell" ??
