Owners have been saying that for years - DISCOUNTING CHEAPENS THE BRAND, and trains customers to believe that regular pricing is excessive and not worth it ! WAKE UP OPNAD ! Discounting only benefits the Company, NOT the Owners!
thats right. we learned all this years ago but we just keep doing it. for years o/o have been saying they wont vote for discounting and then vote for it anyway. you can try to blame opnad but then why do we have opnad if we still have no voice?
OPNAD has been a waste of time and our money for decades. It is full of operator "leadership" who cave to the company line, to curry for their own favor to get more stores or preferential treatment. Discounting only helps the company! SCAM.
Operator "leadership" in the form of the NFLA gets away with doing the corporation's bidding just because they deal with so many intangibles. OPNAD deals with something very tangible - Money - the amounts and the way it's spent. By the way, the leadersip operators who sell their souls to get more stores might be learning a lot over the next several years. Many worthless new stores will be opened, just to make PJB's numbers. Lessons will be learned. .
Sadly, most second (or third) generation operators have drank the corporate kool aid and are like lambs being lead. This is why the company has been purging Legacy (first gen) operators. They remember better times and company promises, and refuse to be manipulated. Very sad.
Got a call from my Field Office Vice-President - "It looks like your not following the recomnedation of Deliotte pricing on under $3, just wanted to bring it to your attention, your affected pricing is above what it was previously" No S..t, I am already discounting a McChicken a dollar lower than before and explain their whole math to them. I also mentioned just spending close to $50K average per restaurant on Technology and just recevied my new NRBES which is probably over $100k per restaurant and McD's want six month plan to complete. Ok so let's sell basically items under $3, lower a dozen or so other items which items sold now at discount will be over 50% of the products sold, not sure where they think the money will be coming from. I am California so min wage starting $20, along with all the higher costs food F&P has gone up over 1%.

All discounting does for me is to reduce my cash flow and profit, making it harder to pay my bills.

Just wait until JUNE at the convention when Corp drops the next required high dollar, low return NRBES requirements on us.
