Spend 56 years developing a niche brand and then hire a D.E.I. CEO who sets out to modernize the brand and look at what happens. Remember when the pajama boy regime tried to do this to McDonald's?
Now Pajama boy tells Wall Street he is visionary on value. His McKinsey focus has moved costs to the Owner/Operators PNL's. Wonder why prices have gone up? Expensive remodels that have brought no new customers, cutting rebates, charging for items that should be part of service fees, oh wait...now call it a royalty. All while driving costs up on the Owner/Operators. Wall Street - he will bankrupt the system.
PJB struggle on CNBC this morning to describe local ownership and totally avoided the direct responsibility PJB owns for the $20/hour fast food worker minimum wage in California. He sold out operators to avoid joint employer and acted like it just happened to franchise owners, It was PJB's plan and doing
TV is tough. When I first started doing an occasional Neil Cavuto show, I got some advice from an Owner/Operator who had been in PR and TV in a former life. His advice: "Never lie to the camera". You will always come across as a liar and a fake. "If you can't tell the truth, don't get in front of the camera". Your eyes, eyelids, shoulders, and voice will always give you away. You can't be trained to lie into a TV camera. This is why Kamala Harris was such a poor POTUS candidate. She just couldn't fake it on camera. And this is why Trump drives other politicians and media people crazy. He just blurts out whatever he's thinking. That may be obnoxious, but you can't call it lying. .
By the way, the world's best liar in front of a TV camera was and is Robert Gibbs. After leaving the Obama administration, he worked for MCD Corp for a few years. It appears that he convinced the MCD culture that a CEO can be trained to lie on TV.
McD made the same blunder as Cracker Barrel several years ago when they mandated change from the iconic mansard roof and roof beam building to the current boring vanilla buildings. It was like destroying a trademark, an icon, a classic.
Richard: Pls remember this seminal point as you assess the recent decision by the PJB phonies to quit NRA. Gibbs #1 loyalty, as was Obama's to the SEIU. See his relationship to SEIU leadership, the #1 visitor to Obama WH, Gibbs best man in his wedding, Gibbs convinced PJB's to support then wrote the 1st statement for Ivy League/Tower arrogance to virtue signal. Gibbs then got his McD's money for a temp stint that he and Axelrod joked about on podcasts. Philosophy & culture are forever. $$$ are temporary when you hit and get out. Unintended consequences on economics of this move are forever. Who do you believe is stronger politically? QSR's or legions of white table cloth Owners? Now PJB's have made another segment enemies. #SEIUexposed
Insightful comments here. Are we on to the damaging lack of wisdom from the PJB’s. Are they as gaslighted as libs do to voters on issues? Has anyone noticed the SEIU posters are in every Mamdani photo op? Nice bedfellows we’ve made. https://www.1199seiu.org/media-center/1199seiu-endorses-zohran-mamdani
Almost universal in franchising ... It's just too tempting for corporate execs to see all that money flow through the system without wanting a piece of it. This is why McDonald's (wherever possible) preferers to do business with private companies. - very little transparency. .

GET WOKE---GO BROKE
The Cracker Barrel CEO should rebuild their original unit, call it a museum, and then bulldoze it.

In the future, to save keystrokes and electrons, please describe pajama boy as"PJB" (caps not required).

Given PJB's life long commitment to liberal democrats and unions rule the democrats you should always look for the union label.

Don't forget leaving the most iconic brand element called Ronald. What is PJB other than an evil individual destroying all icons. He needs a NRP
I have a friend who is a franchisee of a competing brand. He tells me that we (McD) pay more than 2x the cost his brand pays for tech services.
Kickbacks? Price fixing? Fraud?
