McDonald's to Post Calories?

While enjoying my McChicken and $1.00 ice tea the other day I noticed the tray
liner was advertising "Favorites Under 400" and there were stacks of similar
flyers scattered around the dining room. I thought to myself, "That's a good
way to drive down the average check", since almost everything under 400
is on the lower end of the price range.

I get the same gut feeling about posting calories long before it's required (if
it ever is required).

McDonald's to post calorie counts starting Monday
.

McDonalds does such a great job getting ahead of things. This is a great example. Prior to becoming law we will take the responsible position. That being said, Bloomberg is spearheading his industry targeted Supersize Sugery Drink Ban. Its been in the pipeline for awhile and now it's past the NYC Board of Health. Only a matter of time before it migrates. doesn't it seem contradictory that we are trying to align Nationally with a Dollar Any Size Drink as an everyday value greens fee?

Isn't anyone paying attention to the upcoming election and the possible changes to Obamcare?

Is it getting ahead of things or a knee jerk reaction? Basing business strategy on what the government “might do” is risky. Eventually the government(s) will force the minimum wage over $10.00. Should Oak Brook decree that as the new McDonald’s starting wage today?

Two problems here:
A - a company so focus on brand image can also make mistakes by desperately wanting to be political correct.
B - People who work for large companies relate more with big government than they do with free enterprise,(especially franchise companies).

In our region's pulse survey only 14% of the respondents said their cash flow is better than same time last year. We can't turn that around with a decreasing average check.
